Rooted in the vision of Peace Through Agriculture—Pax Agricultura—we work to restore the earth, rebuild livelihoods, and inspire peace from the ground up.

By uniting local and global farming communities to heal both soil and soul through regenerative agriculture, education, and advocacy, we advance Heidi Kühn’s mission to turn the wounds of war into the roots of lasting prosperity and peace for generations to come.

Through partnerships with leading universities and global scholars, including the Kühn Initiative for Post-Conflict Development Studies at UC Berkeley, we cultivate research, dialogue, and policy that bridge the gap between soil and soul—grounding peace in knowledge.
From Afghanistan to Guatemala to Marin County, our Global Peace Gardens unite farmers, students, and communities in cultivating the earth together. Each garden is both a classroom and a sanctuary—proof that peace can take root anywhere.

Post Conflict Development Studies

The Kühn Initiative supports academic research and outreach programming that focuses on the following areas of priority:

Developing detailed knowledge of agriculture in post-conflict zones
Supporting research on economic development in post-conflict societies
The study of demilitarization and development
Promoting peace through economic stability and prosperity

These efforts are interdisciplinary, connecting fields such as agricultural science, natural resource management, international development, political science, conflict studies, and area studies, with an emphasis on academic study that meets practical, real-world needs of farmers, activists, charitable foundations, and international aid organizations in relevant areas.
